Hi all. Been lurking, but thought I'd post! I love to sew for my DD's AG's. We came up with this idea a while back. It's a great recyling project! We cut my DD's jeans down into capri's or cut off shorts when they still fit at the waist but either have become too short or holes blown through the knees. One day while looking at the cut off jean leg, we thought...Oh...this would make a great AG skirt or dress. This works especially well if the jeans have flared legs. You get a nice A-line skirt. Or if there is nice embroidery at the leg, you get instant embelishment.
Anyway...To make a skirt, just cut the leg part to desired length, then sew a casing and thread elastic through and stitch closed. Voila! Instant denim skirt! To make a sundress...cut the leg a bit longer, sew a casing, sew on ribbon straps to tie around the neck or go around shoulders, thread elastic through and stitch closed. Voila! Instant denim sundress.
