This is a fun and easy way to make popcorn for your dolls.
This project requires:
* 1- 1 1/2 packages of white Sculpy (depending on the size bowl you use)
* A pinch of yellow Sculpey
* Yellow paint and a paintbrush so you can add just a hint of "butter" to the top of your popcorn.
* Cooking spray or oil
* A mini bowl
There are many options for your mini bowl. I found a nice set of clear glass mini bowls at Hobby Lobby. Credit goes to Trvnbrn for finding terrific little colorful bowls at Walmart that resemble Fiestaware. These bowls are white on the inside, and come in several colors including Pink, Green, Aqua and Orange.
If you can not find a small bowl, you just your hands to form the popcorn into a bowl shape.
_________
1.) Use cooking spray or oil to coat the inside of your bowl. You only want the tiniest bit of oil in the bowl, so use a paper towel to wipe away any excess oil.
2.) Starting with at least a whole block of white Sculpey, mix in enough yellow Sculpey to make your popcorn look as buttery as you like.
3.) Now is a good time to grab your favorite DVD, CD or watch television because this part can take a while... Begin rolling tiny balls of white or "popcorn colored" Sculpey. I rolled one larger ball, and two smaller balls for each piece of popcorn. Stick at least two smaller balls randomly onto one larger one for each piece of popcorn.. For me, it was easiest to roll up all of the individual balls, and then make each piece of popcorn.
4.) Once you have made a lot of popcorn, place a layer in the mini bowl and press it down gently so it conforms to the shape of the bowl. Add another layer, and press it down. Keep going until your bowl is full. Once the bowl is full, add a nice pile of popcorn to the top, and round it off with the palm of your hand. Make sure not to flatten the popcorn on top too much.
5.) Carefully remove the entire bowl of popcorn from the bowl. You should now have a bowl-shaped bunch of popcorn. Bake it in the oven following the instructions on your package.
6.) Once your popcorn is baked, and completely cool, you can use some yellow paint and a soft paintbrush to add more "butter" to the top, if you like.
When you are finished, you should have a nice doll sized, bowl shaped serving of popcorn that you can use in any similarly sized bowl.
Oh my goodness! You are so creative. I love your detailed instructions and look forward to your posts. And this one came just in time for DD's birthday sleepover! THANK YOU!!!
I have to have those little bowls. I looked all everywhere I can think of at Wal-Mart, but didnt see them. Can you tell me which area you found them in? Thanks again!
This has been the same for both of my local Walmart stores...
Walmart has an isle of inexpensive, plastic pic-nic ware type dishes. The have all kinds of very bright colored plasticware. This year seems to be mainly aqua, hot pink, bright orange and bright green. The row has plastic cups, plates, pitches, trays, bowls, you name it.
These AG sized bowls are actually salsa cups. The come in clear plastic cylinder shaped packaging, with 4 bowls stacked inside. Each set is four of the same color bowls, there are no multicolored packs.They are $2.88 per package. They are nice sturdy little bowls.
These packages fit into a white cardboard display that hangs on the end corner of the isle.
This is where t gets tricky- for no reason that I can understand, BOTH walmarts actually put them DOWN about 3 isles, more towards the rubbermade containers, but still on the end of the row.
At both stores, there was plenty of room on the pic-nic plasticware row, so I honestly have no idea why they moved them to such a strange location.
This display is one of those things that is easy to look over. My hubby pointed it out to me both times. I had walked right past one.
Good luck! If you can't find them, PM me and I will see if I can help.
I found them at one of the Supercenters but not the other in our town. If you can't find them let me know and I'll get you some. But don't wait to long there were not to many left at the one I found them in.
