This is a cute accessory for Samantha - it's made of real wood and metal, and it has nice little details like a velvet edging around the eyepiece and piercing decorating the top. The handle folds down to make it easier to store. It comes with four vintage-looking cards, and those among us that are good photoshoppers could probably scan one in and create some new ones using other images. The cards are a heavy cardboard and fit into a little wire frame at the end. There is also a collector's card that tells about the stereoscope.
There's no easy way for the doll to hold it; we usually "help" Samantha out when we're playing. It also looks very elegant laying on the parlor table. I would give it an A - it would be A+, except it is a bit delicate and probably wouldn't hold up to a lot of rough play.
Some pictures below; I wasn't able to get good, clear pictures of the piercing on top of the metal eyepiece or the cards (yet).

This is one of my all-time favorite AG pieces. Not only is it great all on its own, but it reminds me of a scene from one of my favorite novels, Time and Again by Jack Finney wherein the hero goes back to late 19th century NYC. IMO, the stereoscope is a reminder of the Pleasant Rowland era and her dedication to accuracy and detail. It's a must have.
