Why are so many things so expensive on Ebay? I can understand things such as retired items but some people are selling things for huge markup! It's ridiculous!
I have been wondering about that myself. It is making E-Bay frustrating because finding a "good" deal really requires a lot of effort (from my experience). Sometimes it is almost a chore to go on now.
I don't understand that either. There is a perticular Ebay seller who always has things up for prices $20-$40 higher than AG's prices- even current items!

I think I know who you're talking about, and her prices are simply ridiculous! It's worst than the people charging huge markup for ponies.
I think it's ridiculous when Ebay sellers have the prices so high on purpose. The seller I was talking about it my other post has about 14 pages full of AG things on Ebay just about EVERY WEEK, and the prices are always double or triple the original prices!
I have to wonder if they are making any money on that... if you are an avid AG fan you HAVE TO KNOW you're getting ripped off, right? I would hope people who collected AG things or wanted to buy it for someone knew that on the official site its cheaper!
Remember, AG does not ship to all countries. So this is where these people might get complete outfits, and I have heard that one of these sellers is very nice and easy to work with. Lets be careful to not judge, if there wasn't a market they wouldn't be in business. If prices seem to high we have the flexiblility to go someplace else, some buyers do not. I personally can not get over the attraction that so many people have with these dolls. Look at us, we have message boards to talk about our addiction, how lucky are we. And what nice company we keep.
I realized that too about International buyers and I do think that having the Ebay option is quite nice and it does make sense for them to charge a bit more since they are making the exception of shipping to countries AG does send to.

Why is it such a big deal to ship international? They charge you the actual costs for the shipment anyways - and these are rather high. Or is it that it's the hard work of filling out one customs form? I don't think that shipping internationally justifies higher ebay prices.
However, you always need two for it: the one offering the goods for a high price and the other who buys it for that amount or more. If people wouldn't buy it, the prices would eventually drop as the sellers with the high prices wouldn't make any profits.
It's not so much that the shipping charges are more or anything, it's mostly the fact they offer to ship to other locations other than where AG ships to.
It does surprise me a bit... how on Earth are they making THAT much profit off their sales though? I know they must be selling things, but perhaps only $8-$9 more than AG at times (sometimes its more)
So lets say they buy 10 $20 items, so that's $200.00 (plus shipping) and then you sell each one for $28... so you are making a profit of $80?!?
