I was lucky enough to have gotten Kaya in january of this year. I loved the idea of a Native American Doll... but wasn't sure just how I felt about her from the catalogue pics... again MissMooMoo pushed me in the right direction and I caved to the pressure.
Kaya came home and as I lifted the box lid my breath was taken away. She has to be the most unique doll out of the whole collection. She is absolutly beautiful and since my first glimpse she has become one of my favorite dolls. I just can't say enough good things about Kaya. I feel no collection is complete without her.
Her meet outfit is a very soft fuex leather. When I first saw it in the catalogue I expected it to be rough especially with the fringe, but its positivly lucious. Even the fake porcupine quils do not disrupt the hugableness of this doll.
She does not come with undergarments which is a little new in the doll world but I imagine historically correct. I was kind of hoping for some kind of loin cloth... just personal preference on my behalf... the dress is long enough that it doesn't make a difference.
The only thing I did not like about kaya was her boots. They look fantastic when they arrive, and are as soft as her dress... but if they are untied it is almost impossible to get them back on perfectly. Maybe I'm just not skilled in putting moccesians (sp?) on.
Kaya is magnificent and if you are riding the fence I'd say hop off and jump on the bandwagon.
I love Kaya although I have to admit, her teepee can be a little tough to get up so that it stays up. I've found that following the directions precisely does work.
She is pretty! I bought mine in Feb. and the catalog pics really don't do her justice at all! When she first came out, I had no intention whatsoever of getting her but when I see pictures of her, she is gorgeous!
