I found the most adorable set of little glass bowls at Hobby Lobby! There are 4 bowls ranging from 1 oz.- 7 oz. They are all very nice sizes for the AG's. The smallest bowl would be suitable for a soup or cereal bowl, while the largest one seems more like a fruit bowl or a mixing bowl.
The bowls are thick, clear glass. The set was $4.99, but I used the 40% off coupon for an even better deal! The package includes a project idea suggesting that you paint the rim of each bowl with a different color enamel paint. They would be cute like that, but I think I will leave mine unpainted. I will add pics in a bit.
I also found some little saucers that can work as glass AG plates. They are made to go under plants, and found in the garden center at Walmart. They had them in peach, light blue, light green and antique white. Not much of a bargain at $1.44 each, but still pretty cute.
I love all your cute ideas, please post pictures. I found a little basket at a thrift store the other day and someone from HB had put ribbon on the handle to make it more springlike. I'm going to try that for Easter. But I need little eggs, any suggestions??
Yes, Michaels and Hobby Lobby both have packages of mini wooden eggs that are just the right size. The come in packs of 5 for 99 cents, but all of their unfinished wood products are 50% off (at both places) quite often.
The eggs would be cute painted as white or brown eggs, or they would be adorable paintes as pastel dyed Easter eggs!
I picked up a little basket last week at Hobby Lobby I'll go back and look for the eggs, at that price I could color some with markers and maybe paint some white ones. And the bowls are to cute. Also the food you made, you have such imagination.
I know I have already PMed this to someone, but for anyone else who shops at Hobby Lobby, if you join their email mailing list they will send you a copy of the new sales ad, and a printable coupon every Sunday. Here is a link to this weeks coupon for 40% off of any one item: http://www.hobbylobby.com/site3/weekly/coupons/coupon.cfm
That is too cute! You know, I have never thought about painting a basket. Mae and I sing "A tisket, a tasket, a green and yellow basket..." all of the time. She was so thrilled when we found a real green and yellow basket! lol. She keeps looping it around Mantas arm, but it is as big as she is! Maybe we can get a small one, and paint it green and yellow. Thank you for sharing this idea.
American Mommy, I went to Hobby Lobby and they don't have the bowls or the eggs, boo hoo.
But I went to Michaels and they had the Skulpy and Fimo for 1/2 off. But I could'nt figure out what colors to get. They also had some little bunnies, and already colored eggs with sparkles 12 for $2.99. And I found the cutest little clothes pins, are they the right size??
Next time tell up the departments where you find all this cute stuff, I am somewhat craft challenged.
I am so sorry you could not find them. I never know how to define the departments at my local Hobby Lobby, it all just kind of runs together and is scattered here and there.
At my store, there is a section with unfinished wood and little paper mache' stuff? There is a tiny section with things like glass mason jars and glass flowepots, candleholders- all clear glass. At the very bottom of that shelf, right at the floor is where these bowls were located.
With Sculpey, when in doubt, get tan and hazelnut, and bake cookies!
Boop, I know what you mean. I go into Hobby Lobby and I am just lost! I walked around the whole entire store and was overwhelmed. I am so craft challenged it is ridiculous. I wish I could find some great dollie stuff there.
I did find some nice dolly stuff at Michael's and JoAnn's yesterday though. I bought three pastel colored doll baskets, some pastel painted egg ornaments that will make great egg shaped cookies. I also bought some Premo Sculpey to try and do some craft necklaces for my dollies.
American Mommy - you continue to amaze me with your creativity. I love the bowls and plates. Now I just wish I had a hobby lobby near me. But I will be checking out Walmart. Now if I could just play with the clay as good as you do. You're food looks good enough to eat. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
At Michaels I found some little eggs already painted with sparkles, same size as the wooden ones. I also got some little ribbon and decorated the little basket I found at a thrift store the other day.
At WalMart I found the little radio, way cute. And over in the Cake decorating section in Material, I found the cutest little white pale. It's by the Wedding favors. Same size as the one in the Beach accessories that are retired.
I might buy some Skulpy and try to make some cookies. Maybe American_Mommy will bring her directions over and post them in the Craft Corner. Her cookies are the best.
